I join my fellow countrymen in celebrating His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk’s 29th birth anniversary by sharing this very touching picture of His Majesty. This picture was taken at Simtokha, on the 2nd of November, 2008, during the Royal Procession from Punakha to Thimphu, during the Coronation. His Majesty spent time with this elderly nun, as she offered her prayers, and well wishes.
An overwhelming number of people who visit this website are here because they googled for His Majesty. No price for guessing which page is the most popular on this site: the page about the Royal Family. In light of this search pattern, I am thinking of designing a website completely dedicated to His Majesty.
His Majesty, and the Royal Family has touched and changed countless lives. My website will be a celebration of compassion which cannot be more personified then by His Majesty.
My website will have:
Facts about His Majesty
Facts about the Royal Family
A way for people to pay their respects by writing tributes to His Majesty, and the Royal Family. So that you can share your own personal story about your King.
A lot of people have private collection of rare photographs of the Royal Family. The website will have a system of sharing these rare and historical photographs.
People around the country are adding a new item to their chhoesham (altar), the spiritual heart of a Bhutanese home. This is the folder that carries the portrait of His Majesty and a commemorative Coronation coin. As Lepta, 85, from Bji Pam, said, placing the portrait on his head: “This sung-ki is a gift from my King, the gift of a lifetime.”
On December 10 and 11, thousands of people gathered in Trongsa to offer Thridar to His Majesty the King on his first visit to the dzongkhag after the Coronation. They came from every corner of Trongsa and from dzongkhags of central Bhutan to celebrate His Majesty and the royal presence with songs and dances.
It is with immense joy that we are gathered together on this most auspicious day. In these last 100 years the dreams and aspirations of our forefathers and the vision of our Kings have been fulfilled beyond all expectations. The wise and selfless leadership of our kings, the sacrifice and hard work of generations of Bhutanese and the special bond between the People and King have given us this unique and special nation – a jewel of the earth.
