I join my fellow countrymen in celebrating His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk’s 29th birth anniversary by sharing this very touching picture of His Majesty. This picture was taken at Simtokha, on the 2nd of November, 2008, during the Royal Procession from Punakha to Thimphu, during the Coronation. His Majesty spent time with this elderly nun, as she offered her prayers, and well wishes.
Now and again, His Majesty displays these selfless acts of compassion – though simple in gesture, His Majesty evokes in the minds of people like me, a great sense of inspiration and purpose, and is always a constant reminder of how our lives should be lived. I had the rare honor to serve His Majesty as a Royal Photographer during the Coronation. Many a times, I was very grateful to have a big camera – to cover my face. Even photographers’ eyes become moist.
Happy Birthday Your Majesty. Thank you very much for these wonderful moments, and this beautiful life.
